Hi Dennis,

I landed here by accident, looking for some
Giardenara (the hot or sweet pepper mix that tops these sandwiches)

It made me homesick for my hometown. I now live in Louisiana, and while Cajun food is hard to beat, they'll never get over on Chicago for hot dogs and Italian/Sausage/Beef sandwiches.

But luckily, I'm a chef, so I can whip up a reasonable facsimiles, and I do, believe me!!!

I've never tried Johnnies, but I'll try to get there next time I'm in town.

Dennis, this touch me, maybe because I can identify with you, being on the other side and watching someone you love slip away before your eyes. If I can get personal for a minute, 4 years ago on this date 5-11-05, My mom died, I was in the room with her, I miss her every day. She didn't have Alzheimer's, she had Cancer, but the effect was the same, I watched a proud and strong woman, slip away slowly before my eyes.
After reading your story, I agree Alzheimer's is a bitch, but so is any disease, that take's a love one away from us in this cruel fashion.
I wish God blessings to your Wife to you and most of all I wish your Father-in-Law could return to the man you met 18 years ago, and man the raise a little girl to become your wife/friend.
